FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to RHO zeolites, which can be used as kinetically selective adsorbents for oxygen and/or nitrogen, as well as for removing low levels of N2 from Ar and removing CO2 from methane. RHO zeolites with a Si/Al ratio from 3.2 to 4.5 and the content of non-proton out-lattice cations are disclosed, wherein zeolites contain no more than 1 proton per unit cell, and the size, number and charge of out-lattice cations that are present in the zeolite are such that 1 or less non-proton out-lattice cations per unit cell are required to occupy the positions of the 8-element ring.

EFFECT: zeolites have a comparable kinetic selectivity with CMS materials (carbon molecular sieves), but they are able to function at a much higher rate of adsorption and desorption.
