SPEED-SELECTIVE/KINETICALLY SELECTIVE CYCLE OF ADSORPTION PROCESS ON MULTIPLE LAYERS Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC B01D53/47 C01B21/00 C10L3/10

Abstract RU 2756180 C1

FIELD: adsorption.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to processes for systems wherein a pollutant is removed from the stream of raw material, primarily by means of speed-selective or kinetically selective adsorption. The systems are substantially different from traditional selective adsorption and may be present in commercial systems for production of nitrogen by pressure swing adsorption (PSA). The method for pressure swing adsorption for separating a gas supplied under pressure comprises no less than one faster-adsorbed component and no less than one slower-adsorbed component of the gaseous product. The method includes continuously supplying the supplied gas to the input end of the adsorbing layer containing no less than one solid adsorbent kinetically adsorbing the faster-adsorbed component and removes the slower-adsorbed component from the output end of the adsorbing layer, wherein at least 2 operating layers are present. Continuous supply of the supplied gas sequentially through each of the adsorbing layers leads results in formation of a product gas using a continuous stream of the supplied gas, a stage of constant gas supply, a stage of increasing the pressure of the product, a stage of reaching equilibrium. A stage of obtaining the product exists therein, overlapped with the stage of supplying to the layer, no less than one stage of reaching equilibrium with an increasing pressure and one stage of reaching equilibrium with a decreasing pressure, a discharge stage for reducing the pressure in the layer, wherein purging is substantially not used in any of the layers and at any of the stages of the PSA process. The stages of reaching equilibrium are therein executed in 10 seconds or less, but more than in 1 second. Also claimed are methods for pressure swing adsorption at various stages of the cycle according to schemes.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides a possibility to intensify the technological cycle wherein adsorbing layers are applied, provides a possibility to process a significantly greater amount of gas in a significantly greater degree and/or to yield significantly more product; elimination of the purging stages, reduction on the duration of the stages of reaching equilibrium and introduction of overlapping stages of supplying and reaching equilibrium, usually causing deterioration of the operational characteristics of the equilibrium cycles, clears additional stages to take other actions, such as additional stages of reaching equilibrium, etc.
