SUBSTANCE: method includes performing wells in winter crops up to the average long-term depth of soil freezing, systematic layer-by-layer measurement of soil temperature and its electrical resistance using temperature and electrical resistance sensors, the first pair of which are located on the soil surface, the second pair at the depth of tillering, the third pair in the zone where most of the absorbing plant roots are located, the fourth pair of sensors is located at the depth of the arable layer formed above the plow sole, which restricts the spread of absorbing plant roots, the subsequent sensors are used to control the depth of freezing. The device is made in the form of a cylindrical body, along the length of the outer surface of which sensors are installed: temperature sensors on one side of the surface, electrical resistance sensors on the other. At the same time, all sensors are connected to a wireless information transmitter to the base computer by means of electrical wiring located inside the body and displayed at its upper end.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to predict with greater reliability and significantly smaller labor costs the possibility of damage to winter crops from freezing, snow mold, lapped crust, bulging of the tillering node and soaking.
