SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to endoscopy, and can be used during colonoscopy. For this, in the process of introduction of the endoscope, the position of the distal end of the apparatus is determined by auscultatation through the anterior abdominal wall at the level of the topography of the examined cavities by listening to the noises arising in the intestine during operation of the apparatus. For this purpose, diagnostic equipment capable of capturing these sounds is used. The position of the distal end of the apparatus is determined by the position of localisation of the noise.
EFFECT: method provides accurate determination of the position of the endoscope during colonoscopy.
