FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, namely to a vaccine and a vaccination method for protecting a pig from PRRS virus infection. The vaccine includes: (a) European PRRS virus encoded with a polynucleotide molecule SEQ ID NO: 5 or a polynucleotide molecule, which is at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO: 5, wherein the specified virus is adapted for growth in pig cells or in non-pig cells of mammals, which express pig receptor CD163 before injecting the pig with the specified vaccine virus; (b) the specified encoding polynucleotide molecule; (c) the specified polynucleotide molecule in the form of plasmid; or (d) a virus vector containing the specified polynucleotide molecule. The method includes injecting the vaccine in a period from approximately 12 hours after birth to 3-week age before weaning the specified animal.
EFFECT: vaccine is safe and effective, and it allows for vaccination of pigs before weaning with a single dose in a first day of life.
