SUBSTANCE: described is a vaccination method for protecting a target animal from an infection or disease caused by a virus, where the target animal is a pig and where the virus is selected from porcine epizootic diarrhoea virus (PEDV) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), wherein the method involves administering to said target animal a vaccine containing a live attenuated form of said virus, followed by administering to said target animal the vaccine containing replicon particles (RP) coding one or more antigens from said virus.
EFFECT: invention provides improved protection of pigs against diseases caused by porcine epizootic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV).
