FIELD: car industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines of vehicles. Variable valve actuator (10) for an internal combustion engine has exhaust valve (20), cam shaft (12) and cam support (14). Cam support (14) is located on cam shaft (12) without the possibility of turning and with the possibility of axial shift between the first axial position and the second axial position. There is first cam (32) and second cam (34). First cam (32) and second cam (34) are located with an offset in the longitudinal direction of cam shaft (12). There is first transmission mechanism (16), which, in the first axial position of cam support (14), is in an active connection between first cam (32) and first exhaust valve (20), and, in the second axial position of cam support (14), is in an active connection between second cam (34) and first exhaust valve (20). First cam (32) is designed for the normal operation mode of the internal combustion engine, in which first cam (32) keeps first exhaust valve (20) open in the exhaust stroke. Second cam (34) is designed for the operation of the internal combustion engine in the engine braking mode, in which second cam (34) keeps first exhaust valve (20) closed in the compression stroke and/or in the exhaust stroke, and, before reaching the upper dead point of the piston movement, opens first exhaust valve (20).
EFFECT: technical result is the possibility of reducing time for the reaction of the engine braking control during the operation of the internal combustion engine.
