SUBSTANCE: method for stopping an internal combustion engine is to initiate the stopping process. Reducing the vibration of the internal combustion engine during the stopping is carried out by switching a drive of first exhaust valve (20) of the internal combustion engine by means of cam system (11) with an adjustable position for opening or holding in the open position at the compression and exhaust stroke. And/or switching to an engine braking mode is performed, in which first exhaust valve (20) of the internal combustion engine is first kept in the closed position during the compression and/or exhaust stroke for air compression, and before a piston reaches the upper dead center, is opened to release compressed air. An adjustable valve drive for the internal combustion engine of a vehicle and a vehicle with an adjustable valve drive are disclosed.
EFFECT: reducing vibrations during the stopping process.
