SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the use of oral compounds of L-ornithine phenyl acetate.
EFFECT: specified oral compounds provide an alternative way of injection, different from the standard intravenous injection of L-ornithine phenyl acetate for the treatment of hyperammonemia in patients with various acute and chronic liver diseases and disorders, for example, with acute hepatic insufficiency, cirrhosis of the liver, liver decompensation, portal hypertension, hepatic encephalopathy, or in patients with urea cycle disorders.
