SUBSTANCE: method for determining the location on a traditional map, coordinates of points, geometric and semantic characteristics of cartographic objects in an interactive mode when working with a traditional map in the absence of communication for transmitting digital data is disclosed, in which an electronic version of a traditional map is formed using a computer program, a general list of objects of a traditional map is compiled and identifiers are assigned to them, then using a computer program, the electronic version of the map is fragmented into separate cells, containing fragments of the electronic version of the map in the form of separate files corresponding to the size of a screen of a user mobile terminal and the image is supplemented in each cell with identifiers of all cartographic objects located on it, then the cartographic information collected in the PC of structured sets of pre-prepared data in digital form for each cartographic object and cells containing fragments of the electronic version of the map in the form of separate files is transmitted to the user mobile terminal, then, using a traditional map, a number of a cell on which the selected cartographic object is located is visually determined, an image of an electronic map fragment located in this cell is displayed on the mobile terminal screen, the identifier of the required cartographic object is visually read, a request is made for it and values of coordinates of points, geometric and semantic characteristics of the selected cartographic object are received and read from the user mobile terminal screen, wherein, if the identifier of the selected cartographic object is known in advance and it is necessary to find this object on a traditional map, then cell numbers on which the required cartographic object is located are found by reference, images of fragments of the electronic map are displayed alternately on the screen of the user mobile terminal and the location of the cartographic object on the traditional map is determined by comparing the image of the cell in the form of an electronic map fragment on the user mobile terminal with this map.

EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the volume and forms of representation of semantic information about cartographic objects of the territory shown on a traditional map.
