FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a modified microorganism producing a mycosporine-like amino acid (MAA) and to a method for producing a MAA using said microorganism. Proposed is a modified microorganism intended for producing a mycosporine-like amino acid, wherein the mycosporine-like amino acid constitutes a compound with a central ring of cyclohexanone or cyclohexenimine. The microorganism therein expresses a cluster of MAA biosynthesis genes, and wherein the activity of at least one protein selected from the group consisting of 2-dehydro-3-deoxyphosphoheptonate aldolase (AroG), phosphoenolpyruvate synthetase (Pps) and transketolase (TktA) is modified to enhance by means of introduction of a gene encoding said at least one protein into the microorganism expressing a cluster of MAA biosynthesis genes. The microorganism therein demonstrates an increased production of a mycosporine-like amino acid compared to the parent or unmodified microorganism without said modification, expressing only a cluster of MAA biosynthesis genes. Also proposed is a method for producing a mycosporine-like amino acid, including cultivation of the described modified microorganism in a medium and isolation of a mycosporine-like amino acid from the cultured microorganism or medium.
EFFECT: group of inventions can be efficiently used in production of a mycosporine-like amino acid.
