SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, specifically to mutant proteins involved in production of L-tryptophan, and can be used to produce L-tryptophan in Escherichia coli. What is presented is a SpoT mutant protein with an amino acid sequence at least 90 % identical to SEQ ID NO: 1, in which the amino acid corresponding to position 262 is replaced with serine, cysteine, tyrosine, asparagine or glutamine.

EFFECT: invention provides effective production of L-tryptophan in Escherichia coli using the disclosed mutant SpoT.
