FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of sorbents of organic compounds from a carbon residue formed during the pyrolysis of rubber-containing waste. The method for producing a sorbent of organic compounds includes pyrolysis of rubber-containing waste to produce a carbon residue, activation of the carbon residue by water vapor supplied to the pyrolysis chamber, and cooling of the carbon residue with its additional activation due to periodic supply of cooling water. Pyrolysis is carried out at a temperature of 510-520°C for 4 hours, after which water vapor is introduced into the pyrolysis chamber through a valve in the amount of 0.1 t per 1 t of the carbon residue to activate the carbon residue. Further, pyrolysis is continued at the same temperature for 2 hours, after which the carbon residue is cooled to a temperature of 200-220°C with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide with a pH=9-10 at a consumption of 50 l per 1 t of the carbon residue and potassium permanganate in a concentration of 8-10 g per 1 l of solution for 2 hours. Then the pyrolysis chamber is connected to the atmosphere, cooled naturally, the pyrolysis residue is extracted, crushed and dispersed into fractions.
EFFECT: increase in the sorption activity of the carbon sorbent is provided.
