FIELD: tensile strength tests.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of tensile strength tests of products of increased brittleness, namely to devices for fixing brittle ceramic samples in a mechanical or hydraulic press for conducting tensile tests. The device contains an upper and lower gripper containing an end part with a through hole for locating the tail parts of ceramic samples and a connecting part for placing in the vise clamps of the press. The grippers are equipped with a clamping cylinder installed in the connecting part and perceiving the pressure force of the vise clamps of the press, and the height of the clamping cylinder which exceeds the thickness of the grippers by an amount that allows the grippers to rotate around the cylinder when it is clamped in the press, the end parts of the grippers are equipped with removable metal inserts installed in through holes to accommodate the tail ends of the ceramic sample. The lower and upper gripper are made with the possibility of centering relative to each other when installed in the vice clamps of the press.

EFFECT: invention improves quality of testing brittle ceramic samples during tensile strength tests.
