FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electric power industry and can be used in the construction and reconstruction of overhead power transmission lines. The technical result is the reduction of the cost of transmitting electricity by overhead power lines during the icy period in icy areas by increasing the validity of using new-generation wires that reduce the growth rate of ice deposits of any density in comparison with traditional wires, all other things being equal. The essence of the invention consists in the fact that weighted segments of new generation wires of the same type are installed in clamps that prevent the free rotation of wire on a vertical frame located in the alignment of the wind tunnel path, and covered with a casing; in the pipe, the specified conditions of wind speed, high relative humidity and negative air temperature, prevailing droplet diameter and uniformity of moisture distribution in the flow are created and maintained stable; after achieving stability of climatic conditions in the pipe, the casing is removed from the frame, the same electric voltage of industrial frequency is applied to each wire and the frame with deposits of granular frost and ice on the wires is continuously weighed for a given time; at the same time, the moment of appearance of visible deposits, the dynamics of the growth of the mass of deposits are recorded; after the test, the supply of voltage to the wires and moisture into the wind tunnel tract is stopped, wires with deposits of granular frost and ice are removed from the frame and weighed additionally.
EFFECT: reduction of the cost of transmitting electricity by overhead power lines during the icy period in icy areas by increasing the validity of using new-generation wires that reduce the growth rate of ice deposits of any density in comparison with traditional wires, all other things being equal.
