FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of retroreflective materials used for producing of varnish and paint materials applicable in the field of traffic and urban infrastructure, and pertains to a method for estimating the retroreflective capability of glass microspheres with an applied metal coating. Apart from illuminating the microspheres with a collimated light beam of emission of a predetermined cross-section at an illumination angle β selected based on the calculated values of the angles during illumination, the claimed method includes calibrating and adjusting the unit using a mirror on a rotary table with angular readings as a standard.

EFFECT: simplification of the method for measuring the retroreflective coefficient of both separate microspheres and reflective coatings.
