FIELD: aerosol devices.
SUBSTANCE: aerosol generating device comprises a power source, at least one heating element for generating aerosol, and means for controlling the temperature of the heating element. The device is configured, when in operation, to regulate the supply of power to the heating element such that power is supplied to the heating element to initially increase its temperature to a first threshold value; the power supply to the heating element is turned off when the temperature control means detects that the temperature of the heating element is equal to the first threshold value, thereby causing the temperature of the heating element to drop to the second threshold value; turning on the power supply to the heating element when the temperature control means detects that the temperature of the heating element has dropped to the second threshold value, thereby causing the temperature of the heating element to rise to the first threshold value.
EFFECT: since power is not supplied continuously, power from the power source can be used at a slower rate during a session, and the battery is discharged at a slower rate.
