SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of user plane (UP) management information exchange between an application function (AF) supporting one or several applications and a segment management function (SMF) configured to control traffic flows in this network segment. To realise the described result, the UP management information exchange can be initiated either by the AF or by the SMF. In the case of information exchange initiated by the AF, the UP management information provided by the AF may comprise requirements for the traffic of applications supported by the AF. In the case of information exchange initiated by the SMF, the UP management information provided by the SM may comprise information or events of the policy of the operator, and the AF may send a response with the information on the requirements for the traffic of applications supported by the AF.
