FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for oxytocin release stimulation comprises a lighting unit and a control unit. The control unit controls the lighting unit so that the lighting unit emits light with specific wavelengths and irradiations to the skin of the user with a duration providing oxytocin release stimulation. The release of oxytocin provides a possibility of stimulating the milk release reflex and thus maintaining milk extraction, e.g., when an apparatus for oxytocin release stimulation is used in combination with a breast pump. The apparatus for oxytocin release stimulation can also provide a possibility of achieving a level of oxytocin during pregnancy, which provides a possibility to reduce the risk of postpartum depression or induce labour.
