FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for remote identification of a radioactive cloud in the atmosphere. The cloud is irradiated with an electromagnetic signal, followed by reception of the reflected signal. A circular polarisation signal is used therein with the electromagnetic signal wavelength of twice the length of the alpha radiation track in the atmosphere. The presence of a component with a period equal to the period of the emitted signal in the envelope spectrum of the received signal is determined in the registered reflected signal. Based on the received data, a decision is made on the radioactivity of the irradiated cloud by the presence of a component with a period equal to the period of the emitted signal in the envelope spectrum of the received signal.

EFFECT: provided possibility of more prompt decision-making on identification of a radioactive cloud in the aerial environment.
