FIELD: organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of basic organic and petrochemical synthesis, namely to a method for producing 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane (DMD) by condensation of tert-butanol with an aqueous solution of formaldehyde in the presence of phosphoric acid at elevated temperature and pressure and subsequent separation of DMD from the reaction mass, while condensation is carried out in the presence of porous polyarylene phthalide, the content of which is maintained in an amount of 3.5-5 wt.% of the reaction mass.
EFFECT: increased selectivity of DMD formation.
