SUBSTANCE: breast pump for expressing milk from a female breast contains a kit for expressing, a container connected to a collation kit, and a vacuum unit connected to the expression kit. Combined volumes of the expression set, the container, the vacuum unit and their joints set the air volume of the breast pump system. Breast pump comprises also vacuum pressure sensor and control unit for receiving sensor signal from vacuum pressure sensor, comprising a processor for calculating a corresponding milk volume based on a sensor signal. Processor is configured to detect volume changes in the air volume of the breast pump system in response to changes in vacuum pressure. Disclosed are a method of determining the amount of milk and an information medium containing a computer program stored thereon, containing software code means to induce the computer to perform the method steps.

EFFECT: technical result is reduced milk volume monitoring.
