FIELD: hardening methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for hardening elements of a conical threaded connection by a laser radiation source by rotating the element with simultaneous movement of the optical axis of the laser radiation source along the thread profile by the size of the thread pitch per one revolution of the element. The method includes: moving the laser radiation source is performed parallel to the generatrix 11 of the thread cone, increasing or decreasing the rotation frequency of the element in proportion to the change in the current diameter of the thread cone, respectively, relative to the diameter of its large 12, 13 or smaller 14, 15 base. EFFECT: ensuring a constant size of the laser beam heating spot due to the constant distance between the treated conical surface of the hardened layer and the focusing lens, which leads to a constant radiation power density to maintain the geometry of the threaded joint and increase its reliability and durability.
