SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of machine building, in particular to the strengthening of threaded connections of products. To improve the performance of the machining process and the quality of the threaded connections, laser thermal strengthening of the threaded connections is performed using a heating source in the form of a multichannel diode laser formed from diode modules with the ability to turn off some of them during operation so that the heating spot is formed exclusively on the side surfaces of the thread and its hollows.

EFFECT: invention allows to increase the productivity of the process of thermal strengthening of the thread by 2½ times due to the simultaneous tempering of the side surfaces and the peaks of the adjacent threads.
