SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to devices for making hot beverages. A device contains an outlet for issuing a prepared hot beverage, a flow heater for heating water during the preparation of a hot beverage, a flow meter for determining the volume of water flowing through the heater, located in the direction of flow behind the heater, a drainage valve made in the form of a controlled distribution valve, through which water flowing through the heater can be directed instead of the outlet for the beverage to a waste line or a waste collector, a control device with a scale detection function for determining the calcination state of the heater using flow meter data. The control device is designed with the possibility of switching on the drainage valve during the determination of the calcination state to its switching position, in which water flowing through the heater is directed immediately to the waste line or waste collector.

EFFECT: reliability and speed of beverage making is increased, operation is simplified, and the operating time without repair is increased.
