FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely cardiovascular surgery. In surgical interventions on the extracranial arteries, after a test of the brain's tolerance to hypoxia using cerebral oximetry and a critical decrease in oxygenation, more than 20% of the initial value, temporary intraluminal shunting through the external carotid artery (ECA) is performed. Then, intra-arterial solutions of citicoline 1000 mg 4 ml and dexamethasone 4 mg 1 ml, diluted in saline, are injected at a rate of 50 drops per minute into the lumen of a temporary intravascular T-shaped shunt of the ECA when performing carotid eversion endarterectomy.
EFFECT: method allows normalizing indicators of cerebral oxygenation and perform eversional carotid endarterectomy from ICA, while avoiding cerebral ischemia and development of acute cerebrovascular accident.
