FIELD: meteorology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of meteorology and can be used to determine the pressure of the atmosphere by the profile thereof. Substance: passive flight of an object with known mass and geometric and aerodynamic characteristics in the atmosphere is provided. The parameters of the flight of the object are measured and the coordinates, the velocity of the object, the angle of inclination of the velocity vector to the plane of the local horizon, the acceleration of the gravity of the Earth are calculated at discrete points of the trajectory. For each pair of adjacent points of the trajectory of the object, the difference in the atmospheric pressure is determined, accounting for the resulting parameters, as well as the speed and direction of movement of the atmospheric air masses relative to the surface of the Earth, measured by third party means. The pressure of the atmosphere by profile thereof is restored using a known value of the atmospheric pressure at one of the discrete points of the trajectory and the resulting differences in the atmospheric pressure at the intervals of the trajectory.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining the pressure of the atmosphere by the profile thereof.
