FIELD: glass production; ceramics production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for producing lithium oxide to obtain pure solutions of lithium hydroxide or to obtain glass, glass ceramics or crystal ceramics, for example lithium-ion conducting ceramics. Lithium oxide is obtained from lithium carbonate and elementary carbon or a carbon source that gives elementary carbon at a temperature in the range from 720°C to 1200°C, while the reaction is carried out at almost complete oxygen exclusion in one or more tanks having surfaces contacting with a product selected from a group consisting of glass carbon, lithium aluminate, ceramics coated with carbon, C-coated quartz glass and tantalum.
EFFECT: invention provides for obtaining powder lithium oxide of high purity by an economical technology.
