FIELD: welding.

SUBSTANCE: welding machine is intended for flash butt welding of longitudinal metal products, e.g., preforms, rods or blooms, by welding the back end of the first preform and the front end of the second preform along the direction of supply. The carriage (1) of the welding machine is configured to slide along the direction of supply and serves as a support for the first structure (2) whereon first clamping means (3, 4) are made for clamping the front end of the second preform. The second structure (5) is connected with the first structure (2) and is configured to slide parallel to the direction of supply relative to the first structure (2) and the carriage (1). The second clamping means (6, 7) for clamping the back end of the first preform are made on the second structure (5). The first adjusting apparatus is provided for adjusting the position of the second structure (5) relative to the first structure (2) along said direction of supply. The second adjusting apparatus is provided for adjusting the position in the plane transverse to the direction apparatus, for aligning the second clamping means (6, 7) with the first clamping means (3, 4) along said direction of supply.

EFFECT: automatic aligning system is effective, simple in terms of structure, while ensuring high safety of the operator.
