FIELD: image coding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image coding. The effect is achieved by using the same function for context dependence and symbolization parameter dependence on previously encoded/decoded transform coefficients. The use of the same function - with a variable function parameter - can even be used for different transform block sizes and/or frequency sections of transform blocks in case transform coefficients are spatially located in transform blocks. Another variation of this idea is the use of the same function for the dependence of the symbolization parameter on the previously encoded/decoded transform coefficients for different sizes of the transform block of the current transform coefficient, different types of information component of the transform block of the current transform coefficient and/or different frequency sections on which the current conversion factor in the conversion block.
EFFECT: reducing complexity and improving coding efficiency.
