FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for entropy decoding/coding of video data. Decoder comprises: an entropy decoder which extracts the number of binarisation beans from the data stream using binary entropy decoding by selecting a context from among the different contexts and updating the probability states; transformation module from symbolic form, performing debinarisation of syntax elements binarisation; recovery unit, restoring video based on integer values of syntax elements using quantisation parameter, wherein the entropy decoder distinguishes between 126 probability states and initialises probability states associated with different contexts according to a linear equation of the quantisation parameter, also for each of different contexts, independently extracts the slope of the linear equation of the four high-order bits of 8-bit initialization value and shifts the linear equation of the four least significant bits of said 8-bit initialization value.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of decoding/encoding efficiency of video data due to optimization of initialized state of probability for each context.
