FIELD: image encoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image encoding. The effect is achieved by using the same function for context dependency and symbolization parameter dependency on previously encoded/decoded transform coefficients. The use of the same function - with a variable function parameter - can be used for different transform block sizes and/or frequency sections of the transform blocks in case the transform coefficients are spatially located in the transform blocks. Another option of this idea is to use the same function to depend on the symbolization parameter from previously encoded/decoded transform coefficients for different transform block sizes of the current transform coefficient, different types of information component of the current transform coefficient transform block, and/or different frequency sections on which the current transform factor in the transform block.
EFFECT: reducing complexity and improving encoding efficiency.
