FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to radiation diagnostics and dentistry, and can be used to predict the development of pain dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in patients with dentition defects. Computer tomography (CT) of the TMJ is performed in two positions. At the same time, the position of the patient’s lower jaw is determined in the usual occlusion when the dentition is closed to obtain silicone registers. Next, the position of the lower jaw in optimal occlusion is determined by a functional-physiological method with the production of silicone registers. Then a CT scan of the TMJ area is performed in two positions, fixing the position of the lower jaw using two variants of the obtained bite registers and comparing the results of two examinations. At the same time, differences in the width of the articular gap are determined and the probability of developing pain symptoms is predicted by the magnitude of these differences. With a decrease in the width of the articular gap in the upper and posterior parts by 50% or more compared to optimal occlusion, a high probability of the development of a painful symptom is stated.
EFFECT: method provides an increase in the accuracy of diagnosis of temporomandibular joint dysfunction in patients with dentition defects without repeated CT by determining the position of the mandibular heads using two bite recorders in one CT session.
