FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: emergency protection system for a nuclear plant comprises many catalytic recombinatorial elements, which initiate a reaction of recombination with oxygen with hydrogen taken by the arriving gas flow. At the same time the recombinatorial elements are also suitable as ignition elements. Recombinatorial elements and appropriate paths of flow passage that connect two recombinatorial elements at the gas side are arranged so that the pressure pulse initiated by ignition during recombination reaction in the first recombinatorial element in gas medium in the zone of incoming flow of the second adjacent recombinatorial element causes a process of gas movement that advances the front of flame with the flow speed of at least 5 m/s, which causes intense hating of the second recombinatorial element and accordingly ignition of gas flow even prior to arrival of the flame front to the second recombinatorial element. There is also a nuclear plant comprising an emergency protection system.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to create a system of emergency protection, with the help of which especially reliable hydrogen removal is provided from a gas mixture under comparatively critical conditions or scenarios.
