SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electric arc melting furnace for melting scrap metal and a method for releasing molten scrap metal from it. The electric arc melting furnace contains a container with a bottom, an outlet channel passing through the bottom and having the first section located in the thickness of the bottom and completely passing through the bottom, and the second section adjacent to the first section and protruding into the container, a cover of the second section of the outlet channel protruding into the container, rotation devices made with the possibility of rotating the container in the first direction so that the outlet channel passes from the first initial position to the second position inclined relatively to the specified first initial position, and with the possibility of rotating the container in the second direction opposite to the first direction, so that the outlet channel returns to the first initial position, while the mentioned cover is fixed inside the container and is bell-shaped, closed at its upper end and open at its lower end, and is located coaxially and at a distance from the specified second section and at a distance from the bottom zone with the first section of the outlet channel made in it, forming together with the second section of the outlet channel a volume inside the mentioned cover, while the mentioned cover is made with the possibility of acting as an exhaust cap. A method for releasing molten metal scrap from the mentioned furnace is also disclosed.

EFFECT: increase in the productivity, reduction in downtime during the release process, simplification of the structure, facilitation of the flow of liquid metal, while ensuring the optimal control of it during release, improvement of the control of a melt height level in the bath at the end of release, and simplification of the recovery of the outlet.
