SUBSTANCE: agent for controlling plant diseases contains a substituted pyridine compound represented by the formula

(1) as an active ingredient, where X¹ and X⁴ are the same or different from each other, are a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or a trifluoromethyl group, at least one of X¹ and X⁴ is a fluorine atom or a trifluoromethyl group, X² and X³ are the same or different from each other and are a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or a methyl group, and when one of X¹, X² and X⁴ is a fluorine atom, any of the rest two of them is not a hydrogen atom, X^a is a group of the formula (2) (3) (4) (5). The proposed agent for controlling plant diseases is used in a method for plant protection from pathogen organisms, such as fungi or bacteria.

EFFECT: proposed agent for controlling plant diseases has excellent activity inducing plant resistance to diseases, as well as effectively reduces the damage of an already diseased plant.
