FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: basic variator of a continuously variable transmission includes a housing, input and output shafts, driving and driven geared conical worms with an arbitrary transverse profile, mounted on crossed perpendicular shafts so that an increase in the diameter and inclination angle of the turns of one worm is responsible for a decrease in the diameter and inclination angle of the turns of the other worm. The device is additionally equipped with a cylindrical worm shaft located parallel to the drive shaft, and a movable cartridge installed with the possibility of lateral shift along the body; inside the cartridge there is a shaft with a spinner and a driven geared conical worm installed with the possibility of longitudinal sliding along the shaft without turning. The driving conical worm is made as a single unit with the input shaft of the transmission and is connected by a gear transmission through a driven gear conical worm and a spinner with a cylindrical worm shaft, at the end of which a gear is rigidly fixed, connected to the transmission differential carrier.
EFFECT: simplification of transmission control, increased efficiency, reliability and compactness are ensured.
