FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to methods for continuous casting of high-carbon steel into a rectangular ingot. The method for producing continuously cast rectangular slabs of high-carbon steel includes the supply of liquid steel to the mold, the formation of the slab, its stretching and cooling. During the supply of liquid steel to the mold, a slag-forming mixture is used with a melting point of 1100-1250°C, a viscosity at 1300°C of 0.19-0.39 Pa∙s and basicity (CAO/SiO2) in the range of 1.0-1.5, steel with a hydrogen content of no more than 0.0004% is poured into slabs, the ingot is pulled out at a speed of 0.5 m/min and a change in the pulling speed of no more than 0.05 m/min is ensured, the slab is cooled at a secondary cooling site corresponding to no more than 9.0 meters of the slab solidification length, by supplying a water-air mixture, the specific flow rate of which is maintained in the range of 9.0-13.0 m3/h, then the slabs are heated to a temperature of 800-900°C, aged for 7.5-8.5 hours and then cooled with an oven.
EFFECT: reduction of surface defects of slabs and an increase in the yield of usable products is ensured.
