FIELD: image processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the representation of data/information of a three-dimensional image using texture maps and grids and, in particular, to the generation, encoding and processing of an image signal containing several three-dimensional images, each of which is represented by a texture map and a grid. A device for generating an image is proposed. The device contains a receiver, a grid processor, the first and the second texture processors, and an image generator. The receiver is designed to receive an image signal containing several three-dimensional images representing the scene from different viewing points, wherein each three-dimensional image contains a grid and a texture map. The signal additionally contains a set of texture maps of residual data for the first viewing point, different from other viewing points from several three-dimensional images. The first texture map of residual data from the mentioned set of residual texture maps provides residual data for the texture map for the first viewing point relatively to the texture map due to the shift of the viewing point to the first viewing point of the first reference texture map, which is the texture map of the first three-dimensional image of several three-dimensional images.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of data transmission of a three-dimensional image with support for generating an end point of view of the destination and shifting based on texture maps and grids.
