SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device designed for crushing glass, and a method for crushing by means of this device, which can be used to crush old window glass. The crushing device contains a conveyor made with the possibility of moving a window flatwise in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and at least one crushing unit located above the conveyor and made with the possibility of crushing glass of the specified window during its movement on the specified conveyor. The crushing unit includes a reel placed above the specified conveyor, so that the axis of rotation is transverse to the specified longitudinal axis, and connected by at least one chain to at least one impact unit containing at least one impact head made with the possibility of impacting the conveyor at each rotation of the specified reel. The method for crushing window glass is that the above-mentioned device is used to crush window glass.

EFFECT: device is characterized by an increase in service life due to an increase in the resource of the crushing unit.
