FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry, in particular to a method for producing iron (III) chloride. The method includes feeding a solution of iron (II) chloride from a tank into a reactor, loading hydrochloric acid and oxygen nitrogen compound into the reactor in a solid state or in the form of a solution, conducting an oxidation reaction at a temperature of 60-170°C, pressure of 70.9-1013.3 kPa (0.7-10.0 atm) and bubbling the mixture with air, unloading the resulting solution of iron (III) chloride. At the same time, components are loaded into the reactor in the amount that provides a molar ratio of Fe2+:[N]=1:(0.03-0.3), where [N] are oxygen compounds of nitrogen by nitrogen, and nitrogen oxides formed during the oxidation reaction contained in the exhaust air are sent to the tank with the solution of iron (II) chloride to capture them.
EFFECT: reduction in the labor intensity and acceleration of the process of producing high-quality iron (III) chloride, while increasing the yield of the target product.
