METHOD FOR ULTRASOUND ASSESSMENT OF THE STATE OF SKELETAL MUSCLES OF THE LOWER EXTREMITIES IN THE DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF NEUROGENIC AND MYOGENIC CAUSES OF LOWER FLACCID PARAPARESIS USING THE ORIGINAL EXAMINATION PROTOCOL Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B8/00

Abstract RU 2753958 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to neurology, ultrasound diagnostics (clinical ultrasound), and can be used to clarify the pattern of damage to the muscle groups of the lower extremities during the differential diagnosis of neurogenic and myogenic causes of lower flaccid paraparesis. To do this, an ultrasound scan of the skeletal muscles of the lower extremity is performed only on one side at points located at the level of the middle third of the thigh and lower leg in the front and behind. In this case, the visualization of the muscles of the anterior and posterior bed of the thigh and the anterior and posterior bed of the lower leg is carried out in a cross-section. The degree of echogenicity of each of the muscles is determined, where the first degree of echogenicity corresponds to the norm, the second degree of echogenicity corresponds to minor changes, the third degree of echogenicity corresponds to moderately pronounced changes, the fourth degree of echogenicity corresponds to pronounced changes. According to the obtained parameters, the corresponding pattern is determined: type 1 normal without pathology, type 2 neuritic, characteristic of radiculopathy of the root of the lumbar plexus, mononeuropathy of the nerve of the lower extremity, type 3 neurogenic, characteristic of motor neuron disease, type 4 proximal diffuse myopathic, characteristic of acquired inflammatory, toxic myopathies, type 5, characteristic of hereditary myodystrophy.

EFFECT: provides accessibility and convenience of conducting research, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained in the process of differential diagnosis of diseases of the peripheral neuromotor apparatus given lower flaccid paraparesis.
