FIELD: combustion.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a burner for combusting gaseous fuel in a shaft furnace, in particular, for heat treatment of minerals in the granular form. The burner is located in a combustion chamber in the body of a shaft furnace and has an inlet pipe connected with a source of gaseous fuel. The burner comprises a separating gasket. The nozzle of the burner is located inside the separator insert. The other end of the separating gasket passes into the peripheral zone through which the chamber of the burner is fed into the inner part of the shaft furnace. The external size of the separating gasket is smaller than the internal size of the chamber of the burner. Air for combustion enters the internal part of the insert of the separating gasket, wherein said air is mixed with the gaseous fuel and then burns. The nozzle of the burner is located outside of the edge zone, usually at a distance greater than 100 mm, preferably greater than 250 mm from the inner edge of the chamber of the burner. The edge of the chamber of the burner is protected from overheating.

EFFECT: achieved are a more uniform temperature profile in the sintering zone of the shaft furnace and uniform overheating of the granular charge, bringing the amount of unwanted adhesives and unburned charge to the minimum, combustion of gaseous fuels with a low level of emission, in particular, with low level of CO emission, and an increase in the operating life of the burner, combustion chamber, and insert.
