FIELD: cables; manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices intended for protection against icing of steel cables, and can be used for protection of cables of suspension bridges against icing. Device for protection of cable from icing comprises elongated elastic shell surrounding steel cable, inside of which there are elastic channels. Inside each elastic channel along its entire length there is a metal air duct with through holes in its tubular wall, in which magnets are installed with equal spacing to ensure its immobility relative to the cable. Each air duct is interconnected with a source of compressed air, and a valve with control from an electronic unit is installed at the inlet of each air duct.
EFFECT: providing fast and effective removal of ice crust from surface of protective shell of cable.
