FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to measurement of the angular speed of the axle of a railway vehicle. The system for determining the angular velocity of the axle of a railway vehicle comprises a deformation detection circuit coupled with the axle of a railway vehicle, and a control tool. The deformation detection circuit is configured to detect the dynamics of changes in the value of bending deformation of the axle, depending on the value of normal load transmitted from the axle to a rail. The control tool is configured to estimate the value of angular velocity of the axle, depending on the frequency f obtained based on the dynamics of changes in the value of bending deformation of the axle detected using the deformation detection circuit. Also claimed is a method for determining the angular velocity of the axle of a railway vehicle, consisting in identifying the dynamics of changes in the bending deformation of the axle and estimating the value of angular velocity of the axle, depending on the frequency f obtained based on the identified dynamics of changes in the value of bending deformation of the axle.
EFFECT: ensured measurement of the angular velocity of the axle without using additional angular velocity sensors.
