SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary immunology. The method for determining the antigenic load in newborn animals includes drawing blood, dividing the blood into plasma. Blood is therein drawn from the mother immediately after delivery from the jugular vein and from the resulting offspring from umbilical blood prior to recovering colostrum. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate is then determined in the reaction with the blood samples of a newborn animal in the presence of blood serum of the mother, as well as in control samples of blood of the newborn animal with saline, followed by calculating the coefficient by the formula: , wherein K is the coefficient of the antigenic load of the newborn, %; ESRs is the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in the blood of the newborn in the presence of blood serum of the mother; ESRc is the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in the blood of the newborn in the presence of an isotonic sodium chloride solution, and at the value of the coefficient of not more than 29, the animals are attributed to the group with a low antigenic load, with the coefficient exceeding 43, to the group with a high antigenic load.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the reliability of laboratory research due to the identification of the state of hypersensitivity of the maternal organism to fetal antigens by the reaction of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in the presence of specific proteins of the newborn organism.
