FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing powders of titanium or tungsten carbides by mixing powders of each of these metals with electrical soot and preliminary mechanochemical treatment of the initial mixture followed by heating and mechanochemical treatment of synthesis products, and after mechanical treatment of metal and electrical soot, an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol is introduced into the mixture, which during the step-by-step heating of the mixture is subjected to destruction to gaseous products that are absent in the final product.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of solutions to obtain titanium or tungsten carbide powders.
