FIELD: automotive industry; technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to types of protective coatings, which are fixed on parts of vehicle body and trailers, such as: bumper, fender, door, sill, roof, hood and trunk cover, sides, separately protruding body elements, and method of making such coating. Coating material is ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). Essence of the invention consists in the fact that production and application of a protective coating consists of several stages. Places on vehicle body to be protected are selected. Overlay can consist of one or several layers of different color, density and embossing of the material. Texture of the front part of the overlays and the color range are selected. Contour and area of each selected body part are measured for the purpose of further conversion of all obtained measurements into digital format; thickness of workpieces is selected for production of future overlays. Permanent adhesive layer is applied on the reverse side of the finished sheet. EVA sheet is cut for future overlays on milling machine with numerical control (NC), as well as by any method, where machines for cutting materials with NC can be used. Protective overlays are mounted directly on car body parts.

EFFECT: increased resistance of motor transport to mechanical effects, effects of aggressive external media, deformation and corrosion of vehicle body parts, ease and speed of installation, as well as reduced injuries of pedestrians in case of vehicle collision.
