FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention can be used for producing pairs of friction, braking devices etc. Stack of plates is made from aluminium and magnesium with thickness ratio making 1:(0.67-3) and aluminium plate thickness equal to 2-3 mm. Blast welding is effected at the explosive detonation rate of 2250-3000 m/s. Note that explosive charge height and welding gap between plates is selected to have the rate of plates collision equal to 540-650 m/s. Stack, thus welded together, is subjected to hot rolling at 390-430°C with total squeezing of 40-70% at one-time squeezing per every pass of 8-10%. Produced stack is heated to 410-430°C and cured at this temperature for 4-9 hours to make solid high-hardness intermetallic diffusion layer at the zone of joint between metal layers. Said stack is air-cooled and subjected to cold rolling with squeezing of 2-4% to separate aluminium layer from magnesium layer along diffusion intermetallic layer to provide high-hardness wear-resistant coats on above said plates.

EFFECT: wear-resistant intermetallic coats with stable thickness and hardness produced in single production cycle.
