FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of engine building and can be used to cool the air-fuel mixture in stationary gas-piston internal combustion engines. The removal of heat from the coolant of the low-temperature circuit to the environment is reduced, thereby increasing the thermal efficiency of the combined heat and power plant. A device for cooling the fuel-air mixture of an internal combustion engine with supercharging, high-temperature 5 and low-temperature 7 circuits of the cooling liquid, including an additional heat exchanger 10 with its own open system of movement of the coolant 12 and a three-way valve 11, while the heat exchanger 10 is installed in the low-temperature circuit 7 of the cooling circulation liquids. A method of operation of the specified device is also proposed.
EFFECT: ensuring a lower temperature of the air-fuel mixture by lowering the temperature of the secondary coolant, reducing the likelihood of knocking and preventing a decrease in engine power.
